Experience an intimate violin masterclass with internationally acclaimed violinist and pedagogue Qian Zhou, whose international career was launched after winning the First Grand Prize and all five major prizes at the 1987 Marguerite Long–Jacques Thibaud Competition. Having appeared with orchestras including the BBC Symphony, Radio France Philharmonic and Baltimore Symphony, Zhou is Founding Head of Strings at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS, Artistic Director of the Singapore Violin Festival, and Chair of the Artist Committee and Jury of the Singapore International Violin Competition.

Presented by Rondo Production, in collaboration with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS, and supported by Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS) and Penang Philharmonic Orchestra.

ABOUT QIAN ZHOU

Chinese-born American violinist Qian Zhou is internationally acclaimed as a violinist, recording artist, and teacher. Her career was launched after winning the First Grand Prize and all five major prizes at the 1987 Marguerite Long–Jacques Thibaud Competition. She has performed extensively across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, appearing with orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony, the BBC Symphony, the Radio France Philharmonic, the New Japan Philharmonic, and the Russian Philharmonic.

Her ten recordings for Naxos, Hugo, and Hungaroton span repertoire from Bach to Bartók and have received international acclaim.

Zhou is the founding Head of Strings at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and Chair of the Artist Committee and Jury of the Singapore International Violin Competition. Her students perform and teach professionally worldwide. She serves as the Artistic Director of the Singapore Violin Festival.

A Thomastik-Infeld Artist, Zhou plays a 1757 J.B. Guadagnini generously loaned by the late Mr and Mrs Rin Kei Mei.
