Where traditions bloom, stories begin.

Join us for the official opening of Penang Puppet Festival 2026 – BERBUNGA (In Bloom), officiated by the Chief Minister of Penang. This special evening marks the beginning of twelve days of performances, exhibitions, workshops and cultural exchange, bringing together puppetry artists from across Asia to celebrate the richness and diversity of this timeless art form.

The evening opens with 《邂逅檳榔 Kisah Pulau Pinang》, presented by 破浪布袋戲 Ombak POTEHI, a contemporary production inspired by Penang's multicultural heritage and local stories.

Following the opening performance, audiences will enjoy a special showcase by the 漳州市布袋木偶傳承保護中心 Zhangzhou Puppet Troupe, featuring three classic repertoire pieces that demonstrate the refined artistry, expressive puppetry and theatrical traditions of Zhangzhou—the birthplace of Potehi.

《開幕盛典：生花啟幕》正式揭開 PPF2026《生花 BERBUNGA》 的序幕。由檳城首席部長主持開幕，邀請來自亞洲各地的偶戲藝術家與觀眾齊聚檳城，共同展開為期十二天的偶戲盛會，透過演出、展覽、講座、工作坊與交流活動，一同見證傳統藝術的持續綻放。

開幕演出由 破浪布袋戲（Ombak POTEHI） 帶來《邂逅檳榔 Kisah Pulau Pinang》，以檳城在地文化與歷史故事為靈感，展現馬來西亞布袋戲的創新面貌。

隨後，由來自布袋戲重要發源地——漳州市布袋木偶傳承保護中心 呈獻三齣經典作品：《大名府》、《兩個獵人》及《指掌乾坤》，展現漳州布袋木偶戲細膩的操偶技藝、多元的表演形式，以及深厚的傳統藝術底蘊。
