For generations, many traditional Potehi performances were never fully written down. Instead, stories, dialogue and performance techniques were passed directly from master to apprentice through oral transmission. As senior practitioners grow older, these invaluable memories risk disappearing forever.

In this talk, Marcus Lim shares the journey behind Ombak POTEHI's oral script documentation project, introducing the process of recording, transcribing and preserving the spoken scripts of Penang's senior Potehi masters. Through stories from the field, audiences will gain a rare insight into the challenges, discoveries and importance of safeguarding knowledge that has long existed only in memory.

過去，許多布袋戲劇本並沒有完整的文字紀錄，而是透過師徒口傳心授，一代代流傳下來。隨著老藝師逐漸凋零，這些珍貴的口述劇本、表演技藝與戲曲知識，也面臨失傳的危機。

本場講座由林雲濠（Marcus Lim）分享破浪布袋戲近年推動的老藝師口述劇本採集計畫，介紹如何透過田野訪談、錄音、整理與文字建檔，保存檳城布袋戲老藝師口述劇本及珍貴戲曲資料，並分享採集過程中的挑戰、收穫與文化保存的重要意義。

Marcus Lim（林雲濠）

Marcus Lim is the Artistic Director of Ombak POTEHI and Festival Director of Penang Puppet Festival. Since 2015, he has been actively involved in the preservation, performance and contemporary development of traditional Potehi in Penang.

He initiated the oral script documentation project to record the knowledge of Penang's senior Potehi masters, preserving spoken scripts, performance practices and cultural memories for future generations through documentation, research and education.

林雲濠為破浪布袋戲（Ombak POTEHI）藝術總監及Penang Puppet Festival策展人，自 2015 年起投入檳城布袋戲的保存、創作及教育推廣工作。

近年積極推動老藝師口述劇本採集計畫，透過田野調查、口述歷史及影音紀錄，保存檳城布袋戲老藝師珍貴的劇本、說戲方式及表演知識，期望為馬來西亞布袋戲留下完整的文化記錄。
