Shakespeare Demystified: TWELFTH NIGHT

Premiered in May 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), the show received widespread praise—many calling it “KLSP’s best production yet.” Audiences left smiling, laughing, and asking, “When’s the next one?”

Music is a major part of the experience. Beloved local classics like Getaran Jiwa and Belaian Jiwa are woven into the performance, striking an immediate chord with Malaysian audiences and giving the show a unique, homegrown flavour.

Above all, the production celebrates the magic of live theatre. With just a few chairs, clothing racks, and suitcases—transformed by evocative lighting, smart sound design, and the actors’ craft—Twelfth Night transports the audience into a world of laughter, longing, and joyful surprise. Time flies, and by the end, many are stunned to realise nearly two hours have passed.

Synopsis

A shipwreck separates twins Viola and Sebastian. Disguised as Cesario, Viola serves Duke Orsino, who loves Olivia. But Olivia falls for Cesario, while Viola secretly loves Orsino—sparking a tangle of love, mistaken identity, and comic deception.
