Dancebox December 2022

Celebrate the December season with 8 short dance works by Malaysian artists. From the humorous to the dramatic, from physical feats to romantic moods, Dancebox has all the diversity we crave in the coming year!
 
This edition of Dancebox will feature:
 
•       A personal reflection on the death of a friend in a familiar place, performed by Iqram Company
•       Mining the depths of the inner self to express emotion in motion, in a skillful Bharatanatyam duet from Laasya Arts Academy
•       A trio of dancers choreographed by Murni Omar explore the many colours of life
•       Wong Jia Ying follows the White Rabbit – who is always late! – down the rabbit hole, in choreography by Christine Chew
•       Tai Chun Wai releases the inner beast, in an improvised solo
•       Faillul Adam and Murni Omar present a work-in-progress applying experimental methods to generate contemporary dance from traditional elements, using the dancers themselves as material
•       Jarellyn Cheong, winner of Short+Sweet 2022 Best Newcomer for Dance, performs an intimate solo created by Gwen Ng
•       Drink the tragic love-forgetting potion with the eternally elegant Han Fong Dance Ensemble, in choreography by Low Chong Kiat
 
The Dancebox series is an ongoing project that has been run in partnership by MyDance Alliance and The Actors Studio since 2001. It is an informal performance platform which presents short works of Malaysian dance in a range of genres by established and emerging choreographers.

Ticket prices:
Standard : RM30
Concession: RM20 (Students, Seniors > 60, Disabled Patrons, TAS Card Members)
