Art Exhibition Performance: Present by Nur Khairi Hamidi + Monalimi (Opening Ceremony)

This performance uses dance and paint, guided by songs that Hamidi and Halimi bonded over during their shared childhood in Kampung Selamat and Kempadang Perdana, before embarking on their separate lives. Layered paint marks mimic growth and age as new experiences overwrite the old, with each passing moment in this live action painting. Music acts as a catalyst, allowing their interweaved memories to paint itself into reality.

About Artist

Siblings Nur Khairi Hamidi (artist) and Halimi (dancer) grew up in Kuantan. Hamidi curates a museum, while Halimi performs at Genting Highlands. Both are musicians and played for bands like Decision, Faye Faire, and Lokarya.

Visual artist and musician Nur Khairi Hamidi holds a fine arts degree from UiTM Shah Alam. Known for abstract works influenced by musical language, he interned under pioneer artist Dr Sulaiman Esa and earned an Incentive Award at Pameran Terbuka Galeri Shah Alam 2021. As a guitarist for Faye Faire and Lokarya, he has performed at numerous festivals, including Rock ‘N Riuh 2024, What About Kuching 2024, and RIUH Asean 2025.

Monalimi started his dance career in 2009 with the Scarface Dance Crew at SABS, later joining Art Berat Session and Afro Malaysia. His musical background includes playing as a guitarist for the hardcore band Decision and performing as a rapper under the pseudonym “Halimited”. He developed a professional interest in coffee during his tenure as a barista at 90 Degrees Cafe. Currently, he is a performer and animated dancer at Skyworlds Theme Park in Genting Highlands, a member of Afro Malaysia dedicated to promoting Afro dance within the country, and an independent home barista.
