About
Sakuting is a rural folk dance of the Ilocanos and the non-Christian communities. This version of Sakuting originated in Abra among the Christian Filipinos. During the Christmas time, it is customary in the Ilocos region to perform this dance in front of homes or in the town “plaza”. Groups of boys and young men visit different houses to dance, receiving gifts or “aguinaldos” from spectators often in the form of money, drinks, fruits, or typical Filipino delicacies specially prepared for the Christmas season.
