Leonard Wong Zhi Duan is a passionate and versatile Malaysian classical tenor, choral conductor, and vocal instructor actively involved in the opera and choir scene both locally and internationally. A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art with a Diploma in Music (2021–2024), Leonard studied under esteemed Malaysian tenor Mr. Solomon Chong Kim Lung. His training and performances have made him a prominent emerging voice in the classical music community.
Leonard has performed a diverse repertoire of operatic roles, including Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (2025), the Page in Amahl and the Night Visitors (2024), Chen Yen in the Malaysian opera Solace of Papan (2024), and Monostatos in a scene from Die Zauberflöte (2023). He also contributed as a chorus member in notable productions such as La Traviata with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (2023) and Carmen with Kuala Lumpur City Opera (2022).
As a tenor soloist, Leonard has graced the stage at high-profile concerts including the Pure Joy of Classic joint gala concert with the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (2023), the Voices of Wisdom concert (2024), and his own solo recital, Leonard Wong Vocal Recital (2023). His extensive choral work includes performances with the Young Choral Academy Chorus, National Chorus of Korea, and Malaysian Voices Collective, participating in events like The 1st International Choral Festival in Korea (2024), Music Weaving Love at Dewan FILHARMONIK Petronas (2025), and Best of Anime 2.0 (2025).
Leonard also has significant experience in leadership and education. As the President and Tenor Sectional Leader of the MIA Men’s Chorus, he led performances and competitions across Southeast Asia.
Leonard’s achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including 2nd Runner-Up at the 2023 World Voice and Choral Competition Grand Prix Finals, Top 8 at the 2024 Gold Star International Music Competition Grand Finals, and a Second Class Award at the 2025 International Vocal Open Competition (Malaysia Preliminary).
He continues to build on his strengths in classical and pop vocal performance, choral conducting, and musicianship, with a vision to inspire audiences and share the transformative power of music across borders.
