About
Vinod: I hold a lot in this body of mine, do you not have this problem?
Ezad: Nope. Love just works out for me.
Vers/And Now We Shall Pray is a brand new play within a play written and directed by Dhinesha Karthigesu, the Artistic Director of Theatresauce. Presented in collaboration with klpac, the play explores identity, faith and relationships and continues the company’s 2025 season of workshops, showcases and works in progress.
In VERS, two actors Sanjay and Aiman attempt to build a friendship with one another within and outside of their rehearsals. Can acting as another person give you the space to find yourself?
In AND NOW WE SHALL PRAY, two men Vinod and Ezad find themselves asking new questions about religion and what is actually possible for themselves and their lives. When you finally get your dreams, then what happens?
For both the actors and the characters they play, the questions and prayers that come to the surface are oftentimes alarming and difficult to deal with. Equal parts meditative and damning, Vers/And Now We Shall Pray is an exploration of the body we exist in, the faith we hold and the connection we have with forces outside of us.
Content warning:
Vers/And Now We Shall Pray contains strong language and adult themes. Loud sounds, bright lights, and strobe lights are occasionally used. Viewer discretion is advised. For mature audiences.

About Theatresauce
Theatresauce is a creation driven collective based primarily in Kuala Lumpur, currently helmed by Artistic Director Dhinesha Karthigesu. Under new leadership and a reimagined identity, we champion bold, original Malaysian work, especially stories that centre minority, intersectional and underrepresented voices.
We believe theatre is culture making. Our work embraces the mess and complexity of identity, moving beyond the binaries of race, gender and sexuality to make space for stories that are expansive, urgent and deeply alive.
Founded in 2016 by Kelvin Wong, the company has evolved through many trajectories each leading us to our current ethos: Make. Unmake. Remake.
We are not just a company: we are a container. A practice. A space for process, provocation and possibility.
