About

TODAK◉GUNDIK, adapted from the legendary myths of the Malay Annals (Sejarah Melayu), is reimagined by Kee Chuan Chye into a compelling contemporary theatrical work. Blending historical and mythical elements—including the legendary swordfish attack, jealousy, obsession, and war—the play unfolds as an epic tale of power, desire, and destiny.

The production employs a rich theatrical vocabulary, combining puppetry, masks, animation, and live music, while drawing inspiration from diverse Asian traditional cultural elements, including the iconic folk song Ulek Mayang. Together, these elements create an imaginative, visually striking, and emotionally powerful theatrical experience that brings this timeless legend vividly to life for contemporary audiences.
