A Chef's Confession, Murder Mystery Dinner

The kitchen holds many secrets. But tonight, one of them is murder.  

Krate Creative Space, in collaboration with The Garden@Heeren, invites you to A Chef's Confession — an immersive walk-through murder mystery dinner experience set in the intrigue and elegance of 1930s Malaya.

Step into a world where Peranakan cuisine is served, secrets simmer beneath silk and silver, and not quite what they seem. Held inside an iconic Melaka heritage house, this is not just a dinner. It's an investigation.

Guests will be seated at a shared table for a delicious Peranakan feast before being split out into groups to walk through the rooms of the house, encounter characters, uncover clues, and work together to crack the case before the night is through. Whether you choose to observe or step fully into your role, the mystery unfolds around you — and you're part of the story.

HOW THE EVENING UNFOLDS:

🍽️ Arrive & Dine — Be welcomed, receive your character briefing (if you choose to role-play), and enjoy a full Peranakan dinner served at a shared table of 8.

🔍 Investigate — After dinner, guests are split into breakout groups to walk through the heritage house. Interrogate suspects, search for clues, and piece together the truth.

🎭 Solve the Mystery — Work as a team. Can you identify the culprit before the confession is made?

GOOD TO KNOW:

• Duration: Approximately 2.5 hours
• Performed primarily in English
• Guests may choose to role-play a character or simply observe — both are equally welcome
• Characters and roles will be assigned and briefed prior to the show
• Dinner is shared-table style, seating 8 per table. Seating is assigned. Guests booking as a group of 8 may request to be seated together (subject to availability)
• Menu is listed below — please inform us of any dietary allergies at the time of booking. Note: no pork on the menu

Dress in your finest vintage, Peranakan, or 1930s-inspired attire. Think broderie kebaya, sarong, batik, suspenders, and oxford shoes. Come dressed for a dinner party — and stay for the drama.
