About

Petaling Street, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, has always been a place of change, but even more so following the hiatus in the pandemic. For those who grew up here, familiar corners have become unfamiliar cafés; old shophouses now house boutique hotels and souvenir stores.

Our museum collection has no physical exhibits, but an intervention carefully inserted across Petaling Street, framing what has quietly disappeared from its everyday streetscapes. To begin your viewing journey, find us on our official social media @museumof_____

Transforming the public space into an open-air museum, the Museum of Disappearance asks, “Who holds the authority to define meaning in a city?” The exhibits encourage both residents and visitors to reconnect with their environment and reflect on ongoing change, fostering a deeper awareness of local history and memory.
