About

Sustain;ed KL Open Day is a community event that introduces visitors to sustainable practices through film, conversation, and hands-on workshops. The event will begin with a film screening featuring Sydney Steenland, co-founder of The Sea Monkey Project, followed by a Q&A session with her. After the screening, participants can join free hands-on workshops led by The Sea Monkey Project and Earth Heir. The workshops include:

Machine Upcycling Workshop – Learn how plastic waste can remoulded into new products using our small-scale upcycling machines.

Plastic Pouch Workshop – Create a pouch using repurposed plastic packaging materials.

Carpet Upcycling Workshop (by Earth Heir) – Turn used carpets into simple triangular mini pouches (coin purses, cable holders, etc.).

Participants will also have the opportunity to work alongside refugee artisans in Malaysia during the workshop. The open day aims to create awareness about circular economy practices while giving participants the chance to learn practical upcycling skills.

12pm – 2pm (Workshops)

Content advisory: None. Suitable for general audiences.
