About

Music does not only spring forth from human hands. Here, plants wield the power to orchestrate symphonies.

Plant/Human Duo is a concert in which sounds are generated from different plants. Using devices and sensors attached to plant leaves, the plants’ biorhythms are converted into sound waves and are further manipulated using real-time sound effects.

Audiences are invited to consider the relationship between plant vibrations and aesthetic soundscapes, to witness how humans and plants can come together to form a common “orchestra”.

The show’s unique sound has filled the air at Innsaevi Art Festival 2022 in Iceland, and it has toured across Bulgaria. Plant/Human Duo demonstrates how technology can allow us to better understand and interact with our environment, amidst progress and the ecological crisis. Instead of trembling under the threat of technological advancements, perhaps nature and technology can find harmonious balance and make sweet sounds together.

*The artist will be having an unconventional music instrument workshop on Sunday 21st July (10:00am - 11:30am), at The Courtyard @ Beach Street. Registration required.
