变形记 Metamorphosis

《变形记》（Metamorphosis）改编自弗朗茨·卡夫卡（Franz Kafka）的经典小说，是一部结合肢体剧场、戏剧与视觉叙事的现代舞台作品 。故事始于主角格里高尔·萨姆沙（Gregor Samsa）在一天早晨醒来，发现自己变成了一只昆虫 。曾经是家庭支柱的他，在变形后逐渐被家人、社会甚至自我意识所抛弃 。

本剧由来自沙巴与吉隆坡的独立艺术家携手创作，以客家话与华语演出（附英文字幕）。透过真实与象征的交错，作品不仅呈现了“怪物的孤独”，更深刻揭示了现代人在体制与期待压迫下的异化与无声绝望 。

Adapted from Franz Kafka’s classic novella, Metamorphosis is a modern stage production that combines physical theatre, drama, and visual storytelling. The story begins when Gregor Samsa wakes up one morning to find he has transformed into an insect. Once the pillar of his family, he is slowly abandoned by society, his kin, and eventually his own sense of self.

Performed in Mandarin and Hakka with English surtitles, this production is a collaboration between independent artists from Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. Through the interplay of realism and symbolism, the play explores not just the "loneliness of a monster," but the silent despair and alienation of modern life under the weight of systemic expectations.

Abooleowaer 源于十位戏剧系学生之间的一个内部笑话——这是用一种搞怪的浓重口音念出 “a bottle of water” 的方式。但随着时间推移，这个名字的意义也随之升华。

水无常形。 它流动、它激荡，它能适应任何容器。这，正是我们对待艺术的态度。

如今，Jerry Pang 带着这个名字继续前行，将 Abooleowaer 从一段青春的回忆，转化为一场艺术的运动。我们是一个拒绝被定义的跨领域制作之家。我们不仅仅是一个剧团，更是一个流动的实验室——拥抱那些看似混乱、喧闹且充满实验性的创作。我们致力于与渴望寻找独特声音的新兴艺术家合作。无论你是台前的表演者、幕后的创作者，还是介于两者之间，我们都希望能与你共同掀起下一波创意浪潮。

Abooleowaer started as an inside joke between ten theatre students—a playful way to say "a bottle of water" with a heavy accent. But as we grew, the meaning evolved.

Water has no fixed shape. It flows, it crashes, and it fits into any vessel. That is exactly how we approach art.

Today, Jerry Pang carries this name forward, transforming Abooleowaer from a memory into a movement. We are a multidisciplinary production house that refuses to stay in one box. We are not just a theatre company; we are a fluid laboratory for the messy, the loud, and the experimental. We are dedicated to collaborating with emerging artists who are ready to find their voice. Whether you are on stage, behind a camera, or somewhere in between, we want to build the next wave of creativity with you.

We don't just produce shows; we build playgrounds for the imagination. A space where fresh ideas flow and rules are rewritten.

在这个世界上，我们都在经历一种“变形”。有时是身体的改变，有时是身份、情绪，或是被社会定义的角色。

我想透过这部作品，让观众重新感受“被看见”与“被忽略”的重量。导演方向上，我专注于肢体的象征与节奏的张力，每一个动作、停顿与呼吸，都是角色内心转变的投射。

《变形记》不是在讲一个人的悲剧，而是在照出我们每一个人心中的裂缝。

In this world, we are all undergoing a form of "metamorphosis." Sometimes it is a physical change; other times, it is a shift in identity, emotion, or the roles defined by society.

Through this production, I invite the audience to re-feel the weight of "being seen" versus "being ignored." In my directorial approach, I focused on the symbolism of the body and the tension of rhythm—every movement, pause, and breath is a projection of the character's internal transformation.

Metamorphosis is not merely the tragedy of one man; it is a mirror reflecting the cracks that exist within all of us.
