About
Their upcoming Back to the Classics brings you on a journey to discover the musical gems of pre and post war band classics from the last Century, perfect for those wanting to get acquainted with famous band staples as well as those who wish to revisit these great works.
It ushers in its 2022 season with a grandiose opening number “An Outdoor Overture” by Aaron Copland, a well-known titan of American music. The bright and optimistic number will be followed by another impressive work “Chorale and Alleluia” by Pulitzer Prize-winning Howard Hanson, his first work for a symphonic band which premiered at the convention of the American Bandmasters Association at West Point.
Other highlights of “Back to the Classics” include a rare chance to hear Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite for Military Band” which is peppered with popular folk melodies as well as an uplifting and youthful number by Percy Grainger entitled “Children March: Over the Hills and Far Away”.
Started rehearsing in November 2021, Back to the Classics has a team of 55 musicians.
Easy on the ears and heart, bright in spirit and outlook, it is the perfect start for the symphonic band and fellow music lovers for 2022.
