“Thrive” Charity Musical

The musical Thrive is a commemorative work for the 25th anniversary of The Sun Theatre. Three protagonists who struggles, growth, and hope when facing life's difficulties. The musical, with the theme “Looking Forward," tells the story of three young people—Wen, Tong, and Min — who, on their individual life journeys, overcome physical limitations, illness, and social prejudice, ultimately finding their mission in life.

Wen is a young girl living with a physical disability. Though she longs for independence, she is met with indifference and ridicule while selling flowers on the street. Tong is an HIV-positive woman caught between love and family, ultimately choosing to face life with courage. Min is a young aspiring playwright who endures repeated setbacks on her creative journey, but eventually finds her voice through theater.

Their stories intertwine, revealing a resilient spirit in the face of adversity and an unwavering pursuit of their dreams.

原创音乐剧《奋斗》是心向太阳剧坊成立25周年的纪念作品，通过三位主人公的故事，展现了他们在面对人生困境时的挣扎、成长与希望。音乐剧以“心向太阳”为主题，讲述了雯、童和敏三位年轻人在各自的人生道路上，如何克服身体缺陷、疾病和社会偏见，最终找到自我价值和人生方向的故事。

雯是一位身体有缺陷的少女，她渴望自力更生，却在街头卖花时遭遇冷漠与嘲笑；童是一位爱滋病患者，她在爱情和家庭的夹缝中挣扎，最终选择勇敢面对生活；敏是一位怀揣戏剧梦想的年轻人，她在创作的道路上历经挫折，最终通过戏剧找到了自己的声音。三位主人公的故事交织在一起，展现了他们在逆境中不屈不挠的精神和对梦想的执着追求。

About The Sun Theatre

The Sun Theatre was established in 2000. We believed, performing arts is more than arts itself, it is an awareness, an appreciation and it is a universe. Since its founding, we have been actively promoting local theatre activities. We focus on producing stage plays related to social issues, voicing the concerns of vulnerable groups, and raising funds through performances and seminar to support these groups.

At the same time, we have been actively promoting theatre education in community, encouraging them to express their ideas and build-up confidence through healthy theatrical activities. Since 2013, we dedicated to the academic research of theatre history in Malaysia, enhancing global awareness of Malaysian Chinese drama, encouraging and guiding new generation to create a harmonious theatrical environment with the understanding of Malaysian Chinese drama history, thereby contributing to the development of Malaysia unique national culture.

Our activities and on-going projects include theatre education, stage performances, documenting the history of Malaysian Chinese drama, and establishing a drama culture center.

心向太阳剧坊成立于2000年。我们坚信，表演艺术不仅仅是艺术本身，它是一种觉知、一种欣赏，更是一个广阔的宇宙。

自创立以来，我们积极推动本地剧场活动，专注于制作与社会议题相关的舞台剧，替弱势群体发声，并通过演出与讲座筹集资金，捐助弱势群体。同时，我们也积极推动社区戏剧教育，鼓励大众通过健康的戏剧活动表达思想，建立自信。

自2013年起，我们致力于马来西亚戏剧历史的学术研究，提升马华戏剧在国际上的认知，鼓励并引导新一代在了解马华戏剧历史的基础上，营造一个和谐的戏剧创作环境，进而为发展马来西亚独特的国家文化作出贡献。

我们的活动与持续项目包括：戏剧教育、舞台演出、马华戏剧历史的文献整理，以及戏剧文化中心的建立。
