About
Presented by The Living History Project
The Living History Project (TLHP) is Malaysia's pioneering digital museum dedicated to preserving the stories, memories, and lived experiences of everyday Malaysians and local icons.
We believe that history is not just found in textbooks, historical dates, or political milestones, it lives in the people who experienced it. Through interviews, documentaries, community archives, and public programmes, TLHP documents the voices that have shaped our nation across arts, culture, sports, public service, and exploration.
By creating an accessible archive of these personal journeys, TLHP ensures that the sacrifices, choices, values, and triumphs of our people are preserved to inspire future generations.
Meet The Profile: Real Conversations, Real Malaysia
This Merdeka season, The Living History Project invites you to step into the room for an unvarnished conversation with legendary legal luminary Tan Sri Dato' VC George.
Hosted inside the historic colonial house of Badan Warisan Malaysia, Meet The Profile brings you face-to-face with the icons who shaped our nation. In Cross-Examination: Stories from the Bar, Tan Sri Dato' VC George reflects on a distinguished career defined by integrity, advocacy, and an enduring pursuit of justice. From presiding over landmark legal cases to sharing the sharp wit and unwritten rules of the bench, join us for a rare, intimate look at Malaysian history through the eyes of a giant from the legal world.
The session concludes with an interactive live Q&A, giving you direct access to ask your own questions.
About the Speaker: Tan Sri Dato' V.C George
Tan Sri Dato' Vadaketh Chacko George, better known as V.C. George, is one of Malaysia's most respected legal figures. Called to the Bar in 1957 after reading law at Lincoln's Inn, he practised for 23 years before joining the judiciary, serving as both a High Court and Court of Appeal judge. He also served as the 8th President of the Malaysian Bar (1974–1976) and received the Malaysian Bar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 in recognition of his decades of service to the legal profession.
Beyond his legal achievements, V.C. George is renowned for his wit and exceptional storytelling. His book, "Some Stories I Have Told and Some That I Haven't", is not a conventional memoir but a collection of humorous anecdotes that capture a disappearing era of Malayan and Malaysian legal practice. He has often remarked that he is "serious about telling a funny story", believing that humour can illuminate truth just as effectively as solemnity. He is a repository of a life that spans colonial Malaya, the Japanese Occupation, Merdeka, the evolution of the judiciary, and nearly seventy years of Malaysian public life.
