1) A BRIEF HISTORY OF DANCE By Garasi Performance Institute, Indonesia 

Director : Ari Dwianto

On stage, Ari Dwianto invites the audience into the results of his inquiry. A man appears to be recounting the history of himself; his words draw us into a twisting of space and time toward the past, leaving his body behind in the present.

Although he is searching for himself, that past was never lived alone. He invites us to witness the world he witnessed and experienced, the world that shaped the very joints and structures of his body.

Some of these experiences and testimonies feel familiar and warm, others are strange and estranging. Like the body left behind on stage, tense and urgent, exiled by memory.

Perhaps this is the significance of joget.

Just days before Hari Raya, Amirah, a single woman in her 30s, finds herself cramped alongside her family in a small, three-room flat. Their routine existence is disrupted when a young daughter-in-law moves into the household. Amidst the hectic Raya preparations and simmering domestic tension, Amirah is forced to confront deep questions about sacrifice, duty, and her longing to finally build a life of her own outside the only home she has ever known.
