Deciso String Orchestra

Deciso String Orchestra (DSO) was founded by Mr. Tan Chin Seng in 2016, with further artistic guidance from Mr. Norman Ong Say Seong. Under his direction, the ensemble has grown from 6 members to nearly 40. DSO is set to provide professional leadership and inspiration to young talented musicians, enabling them to expand their musical journey and gain valuable experience through more programs and performances. From mini recitals to concerts and collaborations with external parties, DSO seeks to inspire through interesting performance programs to groom and cultivate a love for music among the young musicians.

DSO presented its first annual concert, “Das MovZart”, in December 2022, followed by its second annual concert, “An Enchanting Broadway Miracle”, in November 2023, featuring well-known works from classical repertoire, films, and musicals. Both concerts received appreciation and positive reviews from the audience. 

In addition to its concerts, DSO has been actively involved in community and public performances. In 2023, the orchestra participated in events such as a Mother’s Day performance at Uniqlo Bandar Sri Damansara and the Mid-Summer Swedish Festival at IPC Shopping Centre. The performances received wonderful support and applause from audiences, who greatly enjoyed the music performed by our young musicians.

From 2024 to 2026, DSO continued to collaborate with Intermark Mall and Pavilion Damansara Heights, presenting performances for occasions including Merdeka Day 2024, Sambutan Anak Merdeka 2025 by Arkib Negara Malaysia, Christmas performance 2025, and a Hari Raya performance in 2026. In June 2025, DSO also collaborated with SMJK Chan Wa, Seremban, for its annual concert, further reflecting its commitment to community engagement, collaboration, and music education.
