Facilitator: Ching Jen (曾真), illustrator of I Am Musang King

Step into the imaginative world of I Am Musang King with illustrator Ching Jen, as she shares her creative journey behind this popular science picture book. This session blends storytelling, art, and nature—introducing participants to the cultural and ecological significance of durians and local wildlife.

Participants will be guided through the basics of traditional ink painting and explore techniques to illustrate durians and native animals. The session concludes with a hands-on creative experience where students create their own artwork to bring home.

Date: 13 June 2026 (Saturday)

Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Venue: KOTAJAIL Ayer Molek, Main Stage & Workshop Space

Fees:
– Students: RM25 per pax
– Teachers: Free (Includes book sharing, introductory ink painting session, materials such as paper, paint, ink, and a frame for each student’s artwork)

Session Format: Artist sharing + demonstration + guided workshop

What to Expect:
– Behind-the-scenes of I Am Musang King
– Introduction to traditional ink painting techniques
– Creative exploration of durians and local wildlife
– Hands-on art session with take-home artwork

Participants Should Bring:
– 2 brushes (1 large, 1 small)
– Ink dish and palette
– Brush washer (wide container is fine)
– Felt mat (for under paper)
– Apron
– Absorbent cloth
– Personal name stamp for signing artwork (Optional)

Important Notes:
– Floor seating required; wear comfortable clothing (long pants recommended)
– Please arrive 10 minutes early
– Photography/videography may be conducted for documentation and promotional use

Facilitator Will Provide:
– Large water buckets (for washing brushes)
– Drawing boards with clips (larger than B3)
– Old newspapers (floor protection)
– Standing easel for demonstration
