PPT Sharing + Specimen Display By Low Yew Yi 刘佑义 (Tanya Jass)
Dipterocarps are the towering backbone of Malaysian rainforests, shaping entire ecosystems and supporting countless species. In this engaging bilingual session, Low Yew Yi and Tanya Jass take you into the world of these iconic trees—unpacking their unique characteristics, ecological roles, and cultural and economic significance.
Through a visual PPT presentation and hands-on specimen display, participants will gain a closer look at leaves, seeds, and wood samples while learning how these forests function—and why they are increasingly under threat. This session invites both curiosity and reflection on our role in protecting one of Southeast Asia’s most precious natural heritage.
