About

Meet The Presenter

A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Pornphan Banternghansa is an award-winning pianist, dedicated pedagogue, and active chamber musician. Her passion lies in nurturing the next generation of young pianists, guiding them to discover their unique artistic voices and preparing them for success on international stages.

Dr. Banternghansa is the Founder and Head of Faculty of the Piano Academy of Bangkok. Under her mentorship, her students have won top prizes at prestigious international competitions, including First Prize at the 5th Franz Liszt International Competition for Young Pianists, Third Prize at the 2018 International Robert Schumann Competition for Young Pianists, and First Prize at the 2019 Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition, among many others. Prior to founding the Piano Academy of Bangkok, she served as a piano faculty member at Silpakorn University for ten years, where she oversaw the Master of Music programme.

As an educator, Dr. Banternghansa has been invited to serve on the faculty of leading music festivals and has adjudicated numerous national and international competitions. She has also participated in world-renowned festivals, including the Verbier Academy, Aspen Music Festival, and Chautauqua Music Festival.

Dr. Banternghansa earned both her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied under Professor Rebecca Penneys, received the Collaborative Piano Award, and served as a teaching assistant in Piano Literature. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Composition at the University of Miami, studying under Rosalina Sackstein on a full scholarship, and was awarded Outstanding Student in Music Composition (Traditional and Media Writing) upon graduation.
