Tali Tukang Gantung is a 60-minute theatre performance. The opening show will be followed by a 60-minute panel discussion, and the closing show will conclude with a candlelight vigil.
Built on real interviews with individuals connected to Malaysia’s death penalty system — including inmates, family members, lawyers, judges, and the prison community, the production explores the human costs of capital punishment. Using the tools of theatre, movement, projection, and music, the play invites audiences to bear witness to how flawed trials and political whims decide who lives and who dies.
The event is also expected to mark the launch of a podcast series based on these interviews — a long-form audio project capturing the full stories behind the play which will be released following the live performance, further extending the project’s reach and legacy.
