The Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR) is a not-for-profit organisation established in March 2011. Its mission is to promote and protect human rights and democracy in Malaysia through an integrated approach that combines education, advocacy, and legal reform.
MCCHR’s work focuses on three main programmes: civic education, strategic litigation, and law and policy reform. It also operates a community space for civil society, providing a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and learning among activists, educators, and the wider public.
The organisation is guided by six core values: serving the community with pride and honour, freeing the mind and spirit, enjoying what we do, embracing differences while enhancing teamwork, building do-it-yourself action communities, and thinking outside the box. These values shape MCCHR’s commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and empowerment in its approach to human rights work.
By combining civic education, litigation, and policy reform, MCCHR seeks to influence meaningful legal and institutional change while empowering individuals to better understand and claim their rights. Through its programmes, the organisation works to strengthen democracy and open up space for voices that are often marginalised in Malaysia. MCCHR is based at Oval Damansara in Kuala Lumpur.
