About

Tikam-Tikam: Chance encounters with performance texts written & curated by Leow Puay Tin invites lovers of Malaysian writing to read, play, and perform a collection of delightful stories together.  This beautiful volume is designed by Jun Kit, and brings together six works from the playwright’s innovative tikam-tikam method of combining storytelling with chance and randomness - inspired by the nostalgic childhood game.

The launch will feature readings - tikam-tikam style! - by Anne James, Ali Alasri, Yiky Chew, Fahad Iman, Sharifah Aryana and Julien Chen.

Tikam-Tikam: Chance encounters with performance texts written & curated by Leow Puay Tin
showcases the unpublished works of a profound creator and weaver of stories, who has consistently experimented with serendipity and the structures of storytelling for over four decades.

“The spirit of experimentation is never far from Five Arts Centre and Leow Puay Tin.  Many of my formative theatre-watching experiences involved their work such as Family, Three Children and Ang Tau Mui.  They have now embarked on their most audacious venture: a physical tikam-tikam game to be enjoyed by the whole family, especially if you have relatives who are a bit 深 (deep).  So who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?” – Amir Muhammad, writer, publisher, filmmaker.
