About

Siapa Cacat? is a Disabled-led theatre production, created, produced, and performed by a new collective of Deaf, Disabled, and neurodivergent creators under Teater Untuk Semua. The title reclaims the word “cacat” — often used as a slur — as a statement of empowerment and a provocation to rethink who belongs on stage.

Set at a bus stop, the performance unfolds as performers come and go, each waiting for the new promised accessible Bus 801 to arrive. Through scenes and monologues, they share moments of playful defiance, escapism, and reflections on agency, time, and belonging.

At its heart, Siapa Cacat? reframes disability as culture, aesthetics, and creativity, while challenging stereotypes and confronting the stigma surrounding disability in Malaysia. Siapa Cacat? is the first public performance by Teater Untuk Semua, following its 2024 training programme for Disabled individuals.

In collaboration with Five Arts Centre, this Disabled-led production is co-directed by Ho Lee Ching and Jazzie Lee Jin Jye, and features eight Disabled performers: Ameera Ramlee, Dino N. Hassan, Fndrocka Notapurba, Gejaletchumi Murugaya, Lavinia A., Nuna Wan, Nur Aisyah Shahimee, and Sharifah Nur Jahan.

For audience accessibility, the performance includes surtitles, Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia (BIM) interpretation, and audio description.

Creative & Production Team

Teater Untuk Semua (TUS)

Teater Untuk Semua (TUS) began in 2024 as a research and documentation project exploring accessible approaches to theatre training. Now a growing collective of Disabled creators, TUS continues to challenge ableist barriers in Kuala Lumpur’s theatre landscape through collaborative, disability-affirming, and accessible performance-making. It aims to enable Disabled people to fully participate in Malaysia’s cultural ecosystem.
