Connecting People, Ideas, and Opportunities at CloudJoi Connect 2025

Published on 31/10/2025

On 27 October 2025, The Godown Arts Centre in Kuala Lumpur came alive with conversations, laughter, and creative energy. The fifth edition of CloudJoi Connect, themed The Magnet Effect, gathered hundreds of arts practitioners, creative entrepreneurs, funders, and policymakers for a full day of networking, knowledge exchange, and partnership building.

Hosted by CloudJoi, Malaysia’s leading arts platform, this year’s edition continued its mission to connect people and ideas across the arts industry — building a stronger, more united creative ecosystem.

The Spirit Behind “The Magnet Effect”

Opening the event, Dennis Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of CloudJoi, shared that The Magnet Effect symbolised the pull that happens when people with passion and purpose come together.

“We’ve always believed in the power of collaboration,” Dennis said. “The Magnet Effect was created to bring creatives, entrepreneurs, funders, educators, technologists, and visionaries into one shared space — to strengthen the arts through collective effort.”

He also shared one testimony that embodies this spirit — a collaboration between neuroscientist Dr. Yvonne Chong and neurodivergent dancer Jazzie Lee, who first met at a CloudJoi Meetup. Their encounter grew into an award-winning interdisciplinary performance at REXKL — proof that real change in the arts begins with connection.

Sharing by Creative & Arts Partners

The day began with Lightning Presentations, where over twenty organisations — including British Council Malaysia, Yayasan Hasanah, Pasar Seloka, ERTI Research Collective, Arts First Association, KongsiKL, Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House, The Godown Arts Centre, Printcious, Hin Bus Depot, W Productions and more — each had five minutes to introduce their work and collaboration opportunities.

These rapid sessions showcased the breadth of Malaysia’s creative scene and sparked many meaningful conversations among attendees keen to collaborate across disciplines.

Table Sessions by Partners

In the afternoon, participants joined Table Sessions hosted by partners like Eksentrika, CloudJoi, and KL Festival. Small groups discussed practical topics — from pitching to media to finding ways for creatives to unite for long-term impact.

The format created space for honest discussion and shared learning, reminding everyone that growth in the arts comes from community effort, not competition.

Community Sharing Session

The event then wrapped up with the CloudJoi Meet Up, an informal, open-mic style session where 14 presenters stepped up to share their ideas, projects, or thoughts directly to industry professionals and peers.

You can read through a summary of all 14 presenters and their projects here.

To make connections even easier, CloudJoi introduced a simple yet clever labelling and matching system, helping participants find like-minded collaborators or supporters based on their goals, whether sponsorship, technical help, or education.

Building the Arts Together

Supported by MyCreative Ventures and Singapore Global Network, CloudJoi Connect Ep. 5 proved that collaboration between the creative and corporate worlds can build something lasting.

We’re thankful to everyone who made this gathering possible — The Godown KL as our venue host, Printcious as merchandise partner, Chirpybird as technical partner, Jantzen for keeping everyone refreshed, and all who joined us and contributed to the day’s success.

Beyond being a digital ticketing and marketing platform, CloudJoi continues to be a driving force in nurturing an arts community that grows through shared purpose.

As the day ended, the energy lingered — hopeful, inspired, and connected. Because when people come together for the arts, the entire ecosystem thrives.

And CloudJoi will always be here to make that connection possible.
