Outreach Youth Band 2025

What began as a labour of love to reconnect music educators and musicians in the aftermath of the pandemic has since grown into a significant movement involving a broader segment of the music community.

The 2025 edition of the Outreach Youth Band welcomes 58 talented musicians from Johor, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Penang, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, and Selangor. These musicians will undergo intensive training leading up to a series of public concerts, conducted by Artistic Director Dr. Low Chee Meng (UCSI University) and distinguished guest conductor Dr. Nipatdh Kanchanahuta (Kasetsart University, Thailand). The concerts will also feature oboe soloist Cheong Wei Xuan, an alumnus of the Outreach Youth Band programme.

The 2025 concert programme offers a vibrant and international repertoire, featuring works by American, Argentine, Japanese, Spanish and composers from Southeast Asia.

This project is made possible through the generous support of CG Flute Academy, The Flute Store, Koje Reeds, EP Winds, KaneYouFitIt Music, The Band Store, Saxophone Library, The Percussion Store, Music Elements, UCSI University, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center (klpac).

The 2025 edition is also held in conjunction with the Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur 2025 and is proudly supported by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL).

Age limit: Recommended for 5 years old and above. 

Parental Advice: If your child is restless / crying, please bring them out of the hall. After they’ve calmed down, you can re-enter with the assistance of our ushers.
