ABOUT THE PLAY

"Socrates in D# Minor" is an experimental tetralogy that explores the complexities of existential ideology within the subjective realities of human experience. Using scientific theories as the vehicles for narrative, the tetralogy features a 4-episode performance with different facets of existential philosophies.

Episode I: Kisah Fenomena Big Bang (The Big Bang Phenomenon), is a play about sperm race and conception, and the inception of the first existential thought.

Episode II: Kisah Teori Evolusi (The Evolution Theory), is a play about human evolutionary line, and the existentialist rejection of the essentialist categorization based on biological markers.

Episode III: Kisah Paradoks Fermi (The Fermi Paradox), is a play about psychotic delusions about the existence of alien life forms, and the existentialist dilemma on God's existence.

Episode IV: Kisah Teori Kewujudan Zarah (The Particle Theory of Matter), is a play about death, the soul, and the existentialist acceptance on the probability of non-existence. 

The performance will be mainly in Malay (with some English, Mandarin, and Tamil).

TENTANG PEMENTASAN INI

"Socrates in D# Minor" adalah sebuah tetralogi eksperimental yang meneroka kompleksiti ideologi eksistensialis dalam realiti subjektif pengalaman manusia. Dengan menggunakan teori-teori saintifik sebagai penggerak naratif, tetralogi ini akan mengetengahkan sebuah pementasan 4 episod yang membahaskan sudut-sudut berbeza dalam filosofi eksistensialis.

Episod I: Kisah Fenomena Big Bang (The Big Bang Phenomenon), mengisahkan tentang balapan sperma dan persenyewaan, serta detik permulaan buah fikiran eksistensial pertama.

Episod II: Kisah Teori Evolusi (The Evolution Theory), mengisahkan tentang susur galur evolusi manusia, dan penyangkalan eksistensial terhadap klasifikasi esensialis berlandaskan penanda biologi.

Episod III: Kisah Paradoks Fermi (The Fermi Paradox), mengisahkan tentang delusi psikotik mengenai kewujudan makhluk asing, serta dilema eksistensialis berkenaan kewujudan tuhan.

Episod IV: Kisah Teori Kewujudan Zarah (The Particle Theory of Matter), mengisahkan tentang kematiaan, roh, serta penerimaan eksistensialis ke atas probabiliti suatu ketidakwujudan.

Teater ini akan dipentaskan dalam Bahasa Melayu.

ABOUT EJKLS SENI

EJKLS Seni (CA0321697-T) is a self-funded social-oriented arts collective with the aim to provide an inclusive space for arts practitioners in Malaysia experiment with the creations of original artistic works with social relevance. We champion adult-oriented contents, original art works, and social commentaries in our productions and events; aside from strongly advocating for accessibility towards arts and arts education. Our collective originated as a theatre-based group, and over the years have ventured into other forms of arts, including poetry, music, dance, and visual arts – with the aim to bridge in the gaps between the different scenes in the arts community. EJKLS Seni strongly advocates for accessibility towards arts and arts education. Over the years, we have been running multiple social-oriented initiatives for the arts – including The Young Blood Experiment (TYBE), the Open Door Project, Arts Accessibility Programme (AAP), Creators’ Lab, and Pentasnita.
