This Merdeka season, The Living History Project presents an exclusive, intimate session of Meet The Profile featuring Datuk Marina Chin, national hurdles legend and iconic sports educator. Hosted inside the historic colonial house of Badan Warisan Malaysia, step into the room to hear the inspiring journey of a sporting pioneer who dominated the track in the 1970s and went on to shape generations of Malaysian athletes.

Discover what it took to define the golden era of Malaysian athletics, overcome the intense demands of elite competition, and transition into a lifelong legacy of mentoring future sporting talent followed by a rare, direct Q&A session with the track icon herself.

About the Speaker: Datuk Marina Chin

At the age of 16, Datuk Marina Chin made her mark in the Malaysian athletics scene by winning the 100m and 200m events at the School Zone Athletics Championships in 1971. Her outstanding performance caught the eye of the Malaysian Athletics Association, which led to her participation in the 1971 SEA Games, where she clinched a gold medal in the 4x400m relay.

Marina continued to dominate the SEA Games, earning five more gold medals and breaking the championship record twice in the 100m hurdles. She also achieved glory at the Asian Athletics Championships, with her final gold medal coming from the 4x400m relay event in 1981. She was recognised as the Sportswoman of the Year in 1976 and 1977 consecutively. She was also awarded the title of Railway Beauty Queen in 1975. Her career helped elevate women's sport in Malaysia while inspiring generations of young Malaysians to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

• Punctuality: Doors open 20 minutes before the session (10:40 AM). Late arrivals will only be admitted during appropriate pauses to avoid disturbing the speaker or recording.
• Student Tickets: Student ticket holders must bring and present a valid student ID at registration. Failure to provide valid proof will require upgrading to a Normal ticket at the door.  
• Recording Restrictions: Audio and video recording during the 40-minute talk are strictly prohibited. Photography without flash is permitted. (For the safety and privacy of our profiles)
• Age Limit: Recommended for attendees aged 12 and above.
• Heritage Venue: Badan Warisan Malaysia is a preserved heritage site. Attendees are kindly asked to respect the house and grounds.
