Music at an Exhibition

Inspired by Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, this experience reimagines the relationship between music and art through a threefold dialogue. Just as Mussorgsky transformed paintings into music, artists from Persatuan Seni Negeri Sembilan have long drawn inspiration from the landscapes, heritage and architecture of Negeri Sembilan. Their works now come together in a special pop-up gallery at Millennia Village as part of the Nine Arts Festival. In turn, musicians respond to these artworks with live performances, creating an ever-evolving conversation between image and sound. Let our artists, musicians and the spirit of Negeri Sembilan guide you on this immersive journey.

Concert Programme

The programme will unfold spontaneously, with the repertoire determined by the musicians in response to the moment and the surrounding environment. Expect a fluid tapestry of solo and duo works for violin and cello, improvised interludes on the suling, and the rhythmic pulse of Negeri Sembilan's traditional Tumbuk Kalang.
