About

Artist in Residence Showcase: Alam Taslim. An artist who created the Noodle monster come and showcasing his work in Malaysia.

Carry On in Malaysia

Tote bags became the main canvas explored in Carry On, representing the function of carrying and movement. The key challenge highlighted is not using new tote bags, but transforming existing ones so they gain new stories and value. Carry On invites everyone to create together using what we already have around us.

FabCafe becomes a meeting point for creativity and fabrication.

A residency in 2026 would give Alam Taslim access to FabCafe’s machines to support the creation of works made from existing tote bags-that collected from Indonesia and Malaysia. The program may also include a participatory exhibition and workshops on handmade or machine-aided crafting (e.g., stencil art or patchwork).

About Alam Taslim

Alam is an artist who works with Street Food themes, featuring his instant noodle monster character named IGOR, a mutated instant noodle monster with egg-shaped eyes and a famous bowl hat featuring a rooster design—just like the iconic bowls used by street food vendors in Indonesia to serve noodles.

IGOR first appeared as illustrations on merchandise art. Then it moved to streets and public spaces as murals. Finally, it entered exhibition spaces as artworks. Alam Taslim and IGOR enjoy when their work can be appreciated by a wide audience. Like instant noodles, which accessible for anyone and easily to enjoy. Because art is for everyone.
