GOLDRAIN & HAILSTONES (2006)

Production History Since its 1993 debut, Gold Rain and Hailstones has reflected the changing times while remaining timeless in spirit.

The play premiered in 1993 at the British Council under Dramalab, paired with Ann Lee’s Happy Families and performed by Jit Murad and Lin Jaafar in its original two-actor, multi-role format. A 1998 revival in Penang, presented with Penang Players, extended its reach beyond Kuala Lumpur.

In 2006, Jit, Lin, and director Dato’ Zahim Albakri reunited for a cinematic restaging in Kuala Lumpur — marking the final performance by the original team and reaffirming the play’s enduring wit, warmth, and resonance with Malaysian audiences.
