About

Facilitated by Shakti Dances Collective, lead by Aida Redza.

This workshop invites anyone — no dance experience needed — to explore the power of movement as a pathway to balance, presence, and connection.

As we move together, shared rhythms and collective exercises open space for connection — with ourselves and with others. The focus is not on learning steps or choreography, but on using movement as a tool to release stress, ease anxiety, and build a sense of belonging. Come as you are, and discover how dance can be a joyful way to ground, connect, and rise.

This workshop is part of YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Please click here for the full programme.

The sculpture in the poster is by Arifwaran Shaharuddin. Check out the exhibition details here.

FACILITATORS' PROFILE

SHAKTI DANCES COLLECTIVE

Shakti Dances Collective emerged as a group of friends coming together to organise a memorial for their dear departed Arifwaran Shaharuddin. The collective comes together again to present You Are Not Alone, a festival of dance, arts, and mental health, to celebrate the artistry of Arifwaran as well as the spirit of community in the arts.

Shakti Dances Collective also carries the legacy of Shakti Dances (1995-2002), founded by Aida Redza, Judimar Hernandez, and Arifwaran Shaharudin.

AIDA REDZA

Aida Redza is an artist who embodies the role of the penjaga (guardian) and whose works nurture, heal, and transform by drawing close to everyday lives. She co-founded Shakti Dances with the late Arifwaran Shaharudin and Judimar Hernandez. Aida continues her work in Penang as founder of WindRiver Productions, artistic principal of Studio Pentas, and member of Ombak-Ombak ARTStudio, championing inclusivity, collaboration, and urgent social issues through performance.
