As the title suggests, My Video Making Practice offers an engrossing look at how Siong King approaches his work and highlights notable Malaysian artists who have been diligently contributing to the Malaysian art scene.
Malaysian Artists Behind The Scenes
In this rare behind-the-scenes look at the lives of Malaysian artists, you’ll get a sneak peek at artists such as contemporary Chinese calligrapher Ong Chia Koon, graphic designer and box camera photographer Jeffrey Lim, electric guitar amplifier maker Nik Shazwan, filmmaker Liew Seng Tat’s team from the 2007 film Flower in the Pocket, and musician Takahara Suiko, among others.
My Video Making Practice is a compilation of seven handpicked videos showcasing Malaysian artists in action, curated by Siong King over the past decade.
Described as his “old new project,” Siong King created the 83 minute video essay between 2010 and 2020, with the pandemic’s influence evident in the final work.
Intimate & Illuminating Conversations
Siong King also shares his thoughts and snippets from his own life, making My Video Making Practice a truly illuminating and intimate experience for audiences.
