As celebrate Malaysia’s 66th Independence Day, ASQ will be featuring an all-Malaysian composer programme, from the classics of P. Ramlee, to the renowned patriotic classics, and their very own violinist, Wani Ismail’s original compostions. Dive into these proudly made-in-Malaysia pieces, and fully embrace and express our love for this beautiful nation we call home.

Amethyst String Quartet 

Amethyst String Quartet was founded in 2018. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the quartet performs music ranging from classical to modern as well as contemporary music for recitals and recordings. In 2020, Amethyst String Quartet recorded three string quartet compositions by Wani Ismail for her original album titled Melodies of Life, which is currently available on major streaming platforms. While in 2021 and 2022, the quartet recorded an EP titled Cover Selections, Vol.1 and Cover Selections Vol.2 respectively, which consists of popular music rearranged for string quartet, also available on major streaming platforms. The quartet has done recitals in Deciso (2018), Taylor's University (2019), The Percussion Store (2020), and also did virtual live streams for Where Else Live and Santai Malam by Malaya Roll during the lockdown in 2021. In 2022, Amethyst String Quartet collaborated with an indie band called Skies Are Red for a charity performance to raise money for Befrienders KL and raise awareness for Mental Health in Jao Tim, Kuala Lumpur. Currently, the members of Amethyst
String Quartet are Wani Ismail (Violin 1), Dorothy Kay (Violin 2), Chow Woei Sim (Viola),and Sophia Ng (Cello).
