What is JOKL?

Based in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Jazz Orchestra of Kuala Lumpur (JOKL) is a community big band made up of passionate local and international musicians who share a love for big band music. Our repertoire ranges from timeless jazz classics to contemporary big band music, and we enjoy collaborating with artists from different musical backgrounds. Through our performances, we aim to bring people together, inspire audiences, and contribute to Kuala Lumpur's vibrant music and cultural scene.

Viva La Fiesta! features the Jazz Orchestra of Kuala Lumpur (JOKL) together with our featured vocalist Joshua Gui and the talented dancers of My Dance Sport Academy (MDA), bringing the exciting rhythms and energy of Latin America to the stage.
From fiery rumbas and lively sambas to smooth bossa nova and other Latin favorites, this is an evening full of great music, spectacular dancing, and feel-good vibes. Come and join the fiesta - you might just find yourself moving to the beat!

We are extremely excited to have legendary percussionist Steve Thornton performing LIVE with JOKL Big Band for this show.

Steve has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in music, including Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Miles Davis, just to mention a few.

This is a very rare opportunity to see and hear a world-class percussionist performing up close with a full live big band right here in Kuala Lumpur.
