Musical Potpourri

This is a true Musical Potpourri. You’ll hear “something old, something new, something borrowed, something – well, bluesy-ish”. The programme will be introduced by Julie Anderson, Musical Director of Vox Suara, and composer-pianist Eddie Goh. The repertoire is a journey through time and across continents, and has something for everyone. 

A major highlight of the programme is a powerful new work, Concerto for Piano and Voices by Eddie. This will be its inaugural performance with Eddie himself on the piano. It has been very exciting for VS to collaborate with the composer on a work which is still evolving. Come, hear more about this from the composer himself at the concert.

Vox Suara is a delightful collection of singers from KL, (walaupun ada ahli yang tidak berasal dari KL!). Established in 2017 by Julie, the choir performs in a variety of settings, regularly performing major works under the baton of Kevin Field. It will be a special privilege for VS to be one of the first to perform in Tutan’s magnificent new rooftop setting! The choir typically performs a cappella, and Julie often writes the arrangements - there may even be a surprise one in this show…

One very special feature in the programme will be an authentic Andean drum, generously on loan to us by an Andean musician who lives locally. The drum will literally start the show with a bang. You have been warned!

The first half will be a collection of songs performed by Vox Suara, both a cappella and accompanied, and two songs by our fabulous guest singer, Calista Lim.

There will be a 15-minute interval, in which light refreshments will be provided in the lobby area. After the interval, Eddie will introduce his own composition, a stirring ‘Concerto for Piano and Voices’. This is a virtuosic, dramatic piece.
