The Time It Takes For Time To Tick

The Time It Takes for Time to Tick is a piece about the process of time as a paradox of the self.

Conceived through the notion about wanting and yearning for something so much that it can only be achieved with time, what happens when reality catches and doesn’t return the expectation we sought?

Through movement, the work ultimately reflects on how time shapes our relationship with ambition, self-identity, and expectation, asking: when will our time come, and how do we continue to carve a path and pursue what we desire while living within the uncertainty of the in-between?

About the Choreographer 

Audrey Chua is a contemporary dance choreographer and artist. As a Rambert School graduate and cohort of VERVE 20, she has performed works by Rafael Bonachela, Botis Seva, and many more. In Malaysia, she has performed in Setanggi Tari Melayu by ASK Dance Company, Switchblade Operation and “TaTaTa 借我一天” by Kongsi Petak, as well as works for Dua Space Dance Theatre and Kenny Shim. Audrey was nominated for best featured lead performer in the 19th BOH Cameronian Awards. She enjoys exploring the connection between movement embodiments, sensation, and flow in response to individuality in her creative practice.

Alisya Razman
Performer
Alisya is a dancer, choreographer, and educator who graduated from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. Her expertise in contemporary dance has allowed her to teach at local and international institutes, as well as premiere her work at international stages. In Malaysia, Alisya co-founded WHY NOT HERE?, a site-specific movement workshop hosted at Ilham Gallery. Aside from doing residencies, one of which she is currently a selected artist for Rimbun Dahan Southeast Asian Arts Residency 2026, Alisya has performed for Hannah Moujing at Dancebox KL, under the group name ‘The R Project’, Lowercase Labs, and KSDC.

Hoi Ching Sim
Performer
Sim is a dynamic and versatile professional dancer with extensive training in contemporary, Modern Jazz syllabus, hip-hop, and more, having graduated with a diploma from ASWARA in 2003. Known for her expressive movement, precision, and adaptability across performance styles, she is experienced in live performance, commercial work, choreography, and international tours in Asia. She has also been nominated as Best Feature Performer (2013) and won Best Dance Group (2015) and Best Group Performance (2024) in the BOH Cameronian Awards.

Winnie Xuan 
Performer
Winnie is an independent dance artist based in Malaysia. She graduated with a First Class (Hons) Bachelor of Dance from ASWARA. Well-versed in Contemporary, Traditional and Interdisciplinary works, she was also nominated as best featured lead performer in the 19th BOH Cameronian Awards and won best group performance in the same year. She has performed works for Kongsi Petak, KSDC, JS Wong, and many more.

Wong Shan Tie
Performer
Shan Tie is a soloist with ASK Dance Company and holds a Bachelor of Dance in Performance from ASWARA. She has recently appeared in PSYCHOSYNTHESIS ON TOUR by KSDC, Laluan Amaryllis. Still by Kwang Tung Dance Company, and Switchblade Op: A World in the City by Kongsi Petak. She also choreographed Lines, Circles and Cycles for Kontra: Yueguang, which was nominated for Best Group Performance and Best Choreographer in a Mixed Bill.

Loke Soh Kim
Lighting Design
Soh Kim is a former dancer in Singapore and Hong Kong, returned to Malaysia in 1992, and co-founded Penang Dance Station with Choo Tee Kuang. Since then, she has been a guest choreographer with Singapore’s Frontier Danceland and lectured at ASWARA. Her works have earned her several BOH Cameronian Arts Awards in the dance category as a choreographer (2002, 2018, 2023) and a lighting designer (2002, 2004 and 2019). In 2018, Kim founded Kongsi Petak in a warehouse-turned art space, KongsiKL. She is also the producer of the “Seni Tiga” project, a multidisciplinary collaborative performance series (2019-2021).

Teo Wey Yinn
Sound Design
Yinn is a Kuala Lumpur-based film worker, composer, sound designer, and pianist. Her career mainly revolves around filmmaking, and she is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents and the Kyoto Filmmaker’s Lab (2022). Her works in sound and music often drift away from the realms of reality and truth, where the soundscape lives, breathes, and dances with the picture and narrative. Her debut short film ‘Enflightenment’ (2023) world-premiered at the RAW Competition in Short Waves Festival in Poland and won the Audience Award; it also had its Asian premiere at the Beijing International Short Film Festival in 2023.

Ix Wong
Costume Design
Ix is a Kuala Lumpur-based choreographer, dance artist, and costume designer. A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts who has performed in Hong Kong and Singapore, he co-founded Ah Hock & Peng Yu and co-initiated Lalu Lalang Lab (L3), presenting works at the Esplanade, Singapore Arts Festival, and international festivals. His cross-disciplinary practice spans dance, theatre, sculpture, and film; he also designs costumes, sets, and installations for stage and screen. His costume designs for Switchblade Operation: The Longing by Kongsi Petak were nominated for Best Costume Design, Styling, and Makeup in the 19th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards.

Between 2 Studios is a creative studio that works at the intersection of movement and embodied experiences through choreography, visual storytelling, and movement direction for stage and digital worlds. Kongsi Petak is a multidisciplinary platform based in contemporary performing arts. Founded by Loke Soh Kim, Kongsi Petak started as one of the members of Kongsi Kolab (2018-2021) in KongsiKL artspace. Kongsi Petak believes in sharing and exchange, while maintaining a symbiotic relationship with the space they occupy.
