About
Think of First Light as a little bit of everything, with a few surprises along the way.
Performed by Kevin Field and the TUTAN Chamber Ensemble alongside featured musicians and guest artists, the evening moves through different musical worlds, from the richness of a full string orchestra to intimate chamber performances, soloists, piano and voice, music from the movies, and contemporary favourites reimagined in unexpected ways.
There is no single genre and no need to know your composers or concertos. First Light is simply about the joy of experiencing great music live, whether you're a seasoned concertgoer or discovering this kind of performance for the first time.
What to Expect
First Light journeys across centuries and genres, bringing together timeless classical repertoire with some of the most distinctive voices in contemporary classical and cinematic music. The programme features music by composers including Antonín Dvořák and Giacomo Puccini, alongside contemporary composers Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds and Arvo Pärt, and celebrated film composers John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Michael Giacchino.
Beyond the concert hall and cinema, the evening ventures into jazz, Mandopop and contemporary pop, with music associated with Louis Prima, Teresa Teng and BTS reimagined for the stage. From sweeping strings and intimate moments to infectious rhythms and familiar melodies, First Light is designed to keep you wondering what comes next.
