About

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kuala Lumpur is honoured to host the official launch of Professor Marek Kozłowski’s latest publication, Urban Development of “Warsaw: On a Trajectory of Changing Urban Landscapes – A Comparative Analysis with Kuala Lumpur, taking place on 21–22 May.

This two-day programme will begin with a press conference at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, followed by a series of expert talks at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), bringing together academics and urban planners such as Prof. Shureen Faris. The event will be enriched by the presence of distinguished guests from Poland, including Professor Hubert Kowalski, Director of the Museum of the University of Warsaw and Professor Katarzyna Wagner, Director of the Museum of Warsaw

At the heart of the event is a compelling exploration of Warsaw’s transformation from 1918 to the present day - shaped by war, political shifts and economic change. Drawing on in-depth research and case studies, the publication examines how the city rebuilt its identity after destruction, revitalised its public spaces and evolved into a modern European capital.

The book is intended for urban planners, architects, geographers, and policymakers, especially in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Through qualitative research methods - including field analysis, observations, and interviews - this study assesses Warsaw's cycles of urban change and the revitalisation of its public spaces and historic districts. By placing Warsaw in dialogue with Kuala Lumpur, the event offers a unique platform for knowledge exchange and reflection on how cities adapt, rebuild and reinvent themselves amid shifting political and economic landscapes.

Kedutaan Republik Poland di Kuala Lumpur dengan sukacita merasmikan pelancaran buku terbitan terbaharu Profesor Marek Kozłowski, Urban Development of “Warsaw: On a Trajectory of Changing Urban Landscapes – A Comparative Analysis with Kuala Lumpur yang bakal berlangsung pada 21-22 Mei 2026.
