About
Overview
Pop Up Theatre returns to the stage with their unique brand of dark humour with the show, ‘SKiTs’; four separate stories exploring absurd situational comedy with a cast of colourful characters, written and directed by Scott McQuaid.
Skits Synopses
Guillotine Jam
Set during the medieval period in London, this skit follows the life of an executioner and his daughter. She is forward-thinking and cannot accept the inhumane nature of her father's profession, being an executioner who handles the guillotine. While the crowds cheer on, she confesses to not wanting to continue the family business.
Headshrinker
Therapist Dr. Payne awaits his next patient. When Brooklyn enters, she is anything but conventional, and slowly through the process of therapy, he learns about Brooklyn’s colourful background, which makes for some memorable comedy.
Hold The Ketchup
This skit sets the stage for an amateur robbery at the fast food outlet, 'Burger Binge'. Billie is a desperate young lady, seeking to get some fast cash with no real plan on how to do so. To make matters worse for her, the night shift cashier, Fen, is unfazed by the hold-up, and makes things extremely difficult for Billie. The situation becomes even more difficult as more characters enter the scene.
Die Smiling
Buddy, a sarcastic and quick-witted motel clerk, is working the night shift. An unlikely couple, Randall, a businessman and a much younger lady, Bambi, whom he is trying to pass off as his wife. Things quickly take a turn for the worst when Randall suddenly dies, and Bambi becomes the obvious and sole suspect. The ludicrous comedy unfolds as Buddy and Bambi struggle to come up with a cover story.
