THE CAST

OMAR ALI

Trained in advertising, Omar stumbled into theatre by chance, and decided to stay. Formerly a resident director at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), Omar is also an actor, set designer, and teacher. As a writer, his specific focus is in Translation and Adaptation. Alongside his late father, Allahyarham Muhammad Ali Hashim, Omar took English classics, translated them into Malay, and adapted them to the Malaysian sociopolitical context. They are best known for ‘Dato’ Seri’ (Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’), and the award-winning ‘KANDANG’ (George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’). Omar’s current focus is on teaching, training, and development – as well as proper Mexican grub.

CHEF IVAN CHAVARRIA

Born and raised in Puebla, Mexico, Chef Iván is the culinary mind behind Street Food of Mexico, a vibrant eatery in Kuala Lumpur. After earning his culinary degree from Universidad del Valle de Puebla, he honed his craft at the Michelin-starred La Sucursal in Valencia, followed by Ocean Maya Royale in Playa del Carmen. With a strong foundation in both Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine, Iván has spent the past decade across Indonesia, shaping menus for renowned venues such as Motel Mexicola, La Tabla and Los Jefes in Seminyak. His role in LIFE ES TU SHORT goes far beyond being “the token Mexican”—it’s his passion, creativity, and food that will make the show muy delicioso.

RAZIF HASHIM

Since entering the entertainment industry in 2003, Razif Hashim has worn many hats—TV host, actor, producer, director, writer, and yes, even coffee maker. Best known for Best in the World on 8TV, Asian Food Channel, and National Geographic Asia, he has reviewed everything from Japanese fugu to towering burgers with wit and flair. His work spans theatre, film, radio, and digital platforms, blending food, travel, and storytelling. Today, Razif channels that playful energy into Wayang Kitchen, Malaysia’s immersive dining theatre, where audiences feast on culture, comedy, and cuisine. With Razif, your napkin doubles as your ticket to the show.
