D'MOTION 2025 - INTERNATIONAL GALA

Featuring acclaimed works from Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and the UK, “International Gala” of D’MOTION 2025 showcases five distinctive contemporary duets that explore human connection, trust, freedom and constraints, and existence through the language of movement, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a world of dance beyond borders.

Featured works and choreographers include:

“Block” - Zhang Yu Tong & Li Tuo Kun, Hong Kong

“Trust” - Choi Moonsuk, Daegu City Dance Company, Korea

*“In the Absence” -  James Pett & Travis Clausen-Knight, PCK Dance, United Kingdom 

The D’MOTION International Dance Festival, which had its inaugural edition in 2013, will make its much-anticipated grand return this October at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC). This year’s festival proudly presents “International Gala”, in which five distinctive and thought-provoking contemporary dance works by outstanding choreographers and dancers from Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom will be showcased. 

Highlights of “International Gala” include two award-winning works, Birdy and Push & Pull, by Lai Hung Chung from Taiwan. Recipient of the First Prize at the Burgos & New York International Choreography Contest in Spain and the Audience Award for Best Choreography in Tanzplattform Bern, Birdy beautifully expresses the struggle to break through limitations and pursue dreams. The expanded edition of the piece performed by 8 dancers was premiere at George Town Festival 2025 in August to much acclaim. This time, audiences will be able to enjoy the work in its original form. On top of that, Lai will also present his latest work Push & Pull that has swept choreographic competitions in Rotterdam (RIDCC) and Hanover this year. The piece uses push and pull as core movement language, revealing equilibrium as endless adjustment and adaptation, as well as exploring how we find balance within contradictions. 

Other featured works include Block, festival selection from Hong Kong Dance Exchange and Silver Award Winner Silver at the Polish International Choreography Competition. The work humorously uses a table to reflect the endless push-and-pull of human connections. Another highly anticipated piece is In the Absence, a poetic meditation on the journey of life through drifting paper fragments, by the UK’s award-winning dancers and choreographers James Pett & Travis Clausen-Knight. Last but not least, Trust, by Choi Moonsuk, Artistic Director of the Daegu City Dance Company of Korea, is a powerful and explosive display of Korean contemporary dance techniques, offering a fresh perspective on building trust between individuals.

Five duets, five distinct physical vocabularies, and five reflections on humanity, relationships, and existence — all inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a world of dance beyond borders.

《国际汇演》海外双人舞特邀演出

自2013年首届举办的 D’MOTION 国际舞蹈艺术节将于今年十月重磅回归！本届 D’MOTION 国际舞蹈节精心策划五部风格迥异、触动人心的当代双人舞作，汇聚来自台湾、韩国、香港与英国的杰出编舞家与舞者，以身体为语言，跨越文化疆界，与马来西亚观众共振世界的感官与情感。

其中亮点包括来自台湾的赖翃中两部屡获殊荣的作品——《Birdy》与《Push & Pull》。《Birdy》曾荣获西班牙布尔戈斯及纽约国际编舞大赛一等奖，以及瑞士伯尔尼舞蹈平台最佳编舞观众奖，作品深刻描绘了人们突破局限、追逐梦想的挣扎与渴望。今年八月在乔治市艺术节上，由八位舞者扩展演绎的版本赢得高度赞誉，而此次 DPAC 的观众将有机会欣赏其原始版本。赖翃中的新作《Push & Pull》亦将在本届艺术节登场，该作在鹿特丹（RIDCC）及汉诺威编舞大赛中斩获佳绩，以“推与拉”为核心动作语言，展现平衡的不断调整与适应，并探索矛盾中如何寻得和谐。

其他精彩作品包括：《Block》：由香港比舞推荐，荣获波兰国际编舞大赛银奖，作品以幽默手法运用桌子道具，折射人与人之间无休止的拉锯与互动。《In the Absence》：由英国获奖编舞与舞者 James Pett & Travis Clausen-Knight 创作，以飘散的纸片为意象，诗意地沉思生命旅程。《Trust》：由韩国大邱市舞蹈团艺术总监Choi Moonsuk 创作，以爆发力十足的当代舞技法，展现个体间建立信任的全新视角。
