About
Balada Bala Sinema (2017)
Lovers of cinema are the heart of a film festival. To the founder of Cinema Lovers Community in Purbalingga, a relentless fervour for making films is all that is needed to nurture a community of young filmmakers. The Purbalingga Film Festival bears testament to the robustness and inclusivity of grassroots cinematic movements based outside of the metropolis.
Composed of archival and filmed footage from 2015 to 2016, The Ballads of Cinema Lovers is an inspiring documentary showcasing the festival’s humble development as a progressive space to learn filmmaking basics and make cinema accessible. When the festival becomes embroiled in nationalistic pancasila politics and issues of censorship, its longevity as a cinematic movement lies in jeopardy.
