VICTORIA JOANNE has over two decades of experience as a writer in personal, corporate and organisational writing. Her diverse services include crafting corporate and organisational documents, speeches, press releases, managing social media content, developing documentary treatments and scripts, and preparing pitch documents.
In 2022, she took a leap of faith and applied to the University of Oxford, where her dream of being a student in real-life Hogwarts came true. After two years of immersing herself in the magical world of creative writing – learning, unlearning and relearning different spells and crafts in prose, poetry, drama and critical reading – she was awarded with an Undergraduate Diploma in Creative Writing in 2024. Walking through the aisle of the Sheldonian Theatre to receive this award was completely beyond her wildest dreams.
Victoria’s time in Oxford birthed a new fascination for drama as she discovered yet another realm of sorcerous pursuit of storytelling that not only shows the story world to the audience but offers them an opportunity to be absorbed into the setting and be a part of the events, experiencing every turn with their every sense.
This fascination propels her to take another leap of faith – this time in the direction of the University of Cambridge. Receiving the offer from the birthplace of Footlights was simply unimaginable. But here she is in 2026, already at the start of Year 2 of her Master of Studies in Writing for Performance, and – to surge the excitement further past any universe both conceivable and otherwise – she is placed in Selwyn College, the very same college as Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander and Robert Harris!
Every community has treasure troves of stories to tell. However, as the saying goes: ‘the harvest is great, but the labourers are few’, there are not nearly enough writers to harvest and process these precious community stories to sustain the story-hungry global audience. Here’s where Victoria's role as a writing coach comes into action – born of her aspiration to share her knowledge and skills to build a community of writers and storytellers across all ages in her homeland of Sarawak.
Victoria is currently working on a feature film for her dissertation, a dramatised biopic of a local world-music band and a chill-and-thrill tv series set in a Carpenter Street pub in Kuching. But she's always on the hunt for more stories to tell.
