Melvin Santana Anthony Taewishai is a multidisciplinary artist born of two vibrant worlds — the son of an Indian father and a Thai mother. His identity is a living tapestry of cultures, which deeply influences his craft as a performer, storyteller, and mover.
Melvin’s journey into the world of theatre began at the age of 18 under the mentorship of Master Ravi Shanker Rama Murthy at Asthana Arts. There, he honed his skills as both a dancer and actor, immersing himself in powerful stage narratives. He has since performed in numerous productions including Naduvan, Naduvan – The Final Judgement, Silappathikaram, Salim-Anarkali, Dasamahavidya, and many more — each role shaping his evolution as an expressive, instinct-driven performer.
Trained in the classical Indian dance form of Odissi under Guru Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, Melvin brings a spiritual and physical intensity to the stage. His performances are rooted in discipline, yet allow space for vulnerability, transformation, and deep emotion.
His recent appearance in Jananam 5.0 under the direction of Anil Singh reaffirmed his commitment to creating meaningful art that resonates with both tradition and modernity. Melvin continues to pursue storytelling that stirs the soul, breaks silence, and celebrates the beauty of cultural fusion.
