Rachel An began her musical training at Chungbuk Arts High School in Korea, where she was selected for the nationally recognized Gifted & Talented Arts Program. She later earned her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Chung-Ang University in Korea, followed by a Master’s degree in Art Management (Art MBA) from Kyung Hee University in Korea, broadening her expertise in both performance and the wider field of arts leadership.
During her high school years, she performed internationally as a member of the Chungbuk Youth Orchestra in Korea, touring several Asian countries and gaining early exposure to global stages. In her university years, she further expanded her artistic experience by participating in the Kobe Cello Festival in Japan.
Rachel has since been active across Asia—including China, Japan, Thailand, Korea, and Malaysia—performing in chamber ensembles and various invitation concerts. In addition to her classical work, she is recognized for her versatile voice in tango, gypsy, and jazz cello, contributing to album recordings, live performances, and national broadcasts on KBS and EBS in Korea.
Now based in Penang, Malaysia, Rachel performs actively as the cellist of the Charis Piano Trio. She continues to engage in performances, education, and cross-cultural arts projects, sharing the depth and beauty of music with local communities and young musicians across the region.
