Caleb Woo
Baritone
Lyric Baritone Caleb Woo has performed extensive Bach repertoire under the batons of John Butt, David Chin, Wolfgang Katschner, Felix Yeung and Felix Shuen, and appeared on the stage of Bachfest Malaysia and Thüringer Bachwochen. He has also performed a wide range of oratorios under Christopher Seaman, Helmuth Rilling, Paul Goodwin, William Weinert, Jonathan Cohen, Jahja Ling, Lio Kuokman and Yip Wing-sie. Woo also participates in opera productions. Recently he participated in the productions of Por Por and Women Like Us, the award-winning opera Angel’s Bone produced by the New Vision Arts Festival and the Beijing Music Festival; original operas composed by Chan Hin-yan, Kungfood, Datong and Heart of Coral. He also participated in productions by Opera Hong Kong, City Opera Hong Kong, Musica Viva, Pop up Production, putting up La traviata, Orphee aux enfers and La Bohéme, to name a few. Woo holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Hong Kong Baptist University, and the Chung-Chi Divinity School, Chinese University of Hong Kong. His voice teachers include Professor Robert McIver, Jimmy Chan and Sanson Lau. He is now serving as the Music Director of Tuen Mun Alliance Church; Voice Instructor at Music Department, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Qin Music School; Assistant Professor at Wong Bing Lai Music and Performing Arts Unit, Lingnan University; Resident Artist at the Education University of Hong Kong; Co-ordinator of Ensemble Music Ministries at the Hong Kong Baptist University; and conductor of HKU Chamber Singers. Elected as a Member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and President of the Hong Kong Chapter, he is devoted to promoting healthy vocalism and the ability to appreciate the beauty of voice as creation.
